However, if you are a UAE citizen, those last-minute worries may be a thing of the past, since the renewal procedure appears to be lot simpler.

This is due to the fact that you can apply for, renew, or replace an Emirati passport through five different methods.

These are:

  • General Immigration and Foreigners Departments
  • Section of Affairs and Citizenship.
  • The eChannels for Citizenship and Residence.
  • Citizens can get their passports online.
  • The Federal Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Border Protection and Ports Security Authority (ICP).
  • Airports in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, and Sharjah.

Passport renewal procedures are now accessible 24 hours a day at Dubai and Abu Dhabi airports.

So, if you’ve lost your Emirati passport, or it’s damaged or expired, all you have to do is call the UAE embassy or consulate, and you may get an alternative at the airport.

According to the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs, this is the case.

UAE passports are only valid for five years.

You must present all three documents when applying for a new one.

They are as follows:

  • A family book, or an extra copy of one.
  • The original or a copy of your ID.
  • A recent personal photograph.

You can get more details from the General Departments of Residency and Foreigners Affairs, or call the phone centre at 600522222.
