5 things you can do in Dubai to help support Palestine

Do you want to support the people of Palestine? Aside from Tarahum for Gaza, there are plenty of activities taking place within Dubai in which you can take part while knowing that your money is going to aid the people of Gaza.

Gather for Gaza at Hoe Lee Kow

Chef Reif Othman’s two different Asian dining concepts, Reif Japanese Kushiyaki and Hoe Lee Kow in Dubai Hills, will come together for a meaningful culinary event on November 20, 2023 at 7pm. The event will feature a special sharing-style food from both restaurants as part of Soul Collective DXB’s first ‘Gather For Gaza’ event. Tickets for the event are priced at Dhs500, Dhs750, and Dhs1,000, with the money raised going to the Little Wings Foundation, which works with the Al Jalila Foundation, which provides vital medical help to children in Gaza.

Visit Alserkal Art Week

From November 20 to 26, Alserkal Art Week will be back with all things arts and culture, with a focus on Gaza exploration. This version of the much-loved collective contains displays and conversations that will take the audience through the Palestinian past, present, and a community depiction of a possible future, thereby providing a platform for educated discourse on Palestine. The main show, titled ‘On This Land,’ is set to debut this weekend on Sunday, November 19 at 6 p.m. A number of pieces from The Palestinian Museum’s digital archive and the Barjeel Art Foundation’s collection will be on display. Farha and Gaza Mon Amour, two Palestinian tales based on actual events, will be shown at Cinema Akil.

Join a fundraiser at Nasab

Nasab social club will host a Movement for Gaza fundraiser with a variety of wellness-focused events from 4pm to 10pm. Yoga, breathwork, ice baths, and other performs are among those provided.Younger adults are welcome to attend, so bring them over for the cause. They can engage in an array of events or watch a film at the children’s cinema. There are also home-grown food and drinks available at the site to keep you fueled during the whole weekend. Ticket prices start at Dhs300 for people over the age of 12, with all revenues going to the Emirates Red Crescent to assist their vital relief work in Palestine. Please keep in mind that each session has a limited number of places, so it’s first come, first served.

Learn the art of warak rolling

Do you like Arabic vine leaves? Did you know it’s a therapeutic relief for many people, allowing you to zone out as you go through the rituals of prepping? If it’s something you’d like to do this week at Kave on Alserkal Avenue, you’ll be able to do it with others by attending Haya’s Kitchen’s cooking class. It’s not only a learning experience, but it’s also a wonderful chance to join together and express hope, love, and pride for Palestine. Following your warak rolling instructions, you will all sit down and eat a batch of handmade koosa and warak in a communal meal.The workshop will be from 1.30 to 3.30 p.m.

Gulf Photo Plus is a group of photographers and visual storytellers from the Arabic-speaking everywhere that stand firm in support of the Palestinian people. The photo services started offering prints by 15 Palestinian artists and the 44 Arab Investigative Photo Programme mentees. All revenues from each sale will be used to fund the artists’ ongoing work and recovery from the ongoing violence. Each print is priced at Dhs495.
