Taxis in Dubai are among the best in the world, and they are one of the most efficient ways of transport in the city.
Several ride-hailing applications are available.
However, for the time being, six big companies dominate the network and make it easier for you to hail a cab home.
Options range from the RTA’s original Dubai Taxi service (which is still the most cost-effective option) to foreign ride-hailing apps like Yango, Uber, and Careem.

Getting a taxi from Dubai International Airport
Dubai International (DXB) includes a variety of dedicated vehicles, making it easy to find a cab at Dubai Airport.
Each Terminal has a separate taxi queue where cabs are available to pick up customers around the clock. When taking a taxi from Dubai Airport into Dubai, the metre will start at Dhs25 (at the time a regulated airport collecting cost). The journey will cost you Dhs1.96 per kilometre from there.
If you’d rather take an Uber, open your Uber app and enter Dubai International Airport (DXB) for the destination. The mode of transportation will then be confirmed, and depending on the Terminal you are at, your pick-up location will be provided.
Taxis in Dubai and ride-hailing apps to use
Blacklane
A one-way cab ride from Dubai to Abu Dhabi should cost between Dhs250 and Dhs300. You can hail one from the side of the road or order one through the company to drive you to the capital.
Blacklane, a chauffeur service, provides trips from Dubai International Airport into the city. You may book transportation via the smartphone app, and the chauffeur will wait for you for up to an hour at no further fee.

Careem
To use cabs in Dubai, you must first download the Careem smartphone application. You may select from a variety of cars, book a Hala Taxi in Dubai, or even book inter-city trips between the Emirates.

Dubai Taxi Corporation
If you see a red roof-topped car with a nice person in the driver’s seat, know that you’re in a Dubai Taxi Corporation car. You may either hail a cab or make a reservation in advance. These are the only taxis in Dubai that you may flag down on the street (though keep in mind that driver change-over delays and rush hour might severely limit the availability of free cabs).

Pricing: Dhs5 from 6am to 10pm, Dhs5.5 from 10pm to 6am, and Dhs2.19 per kilometre.

Yango
Yango may be new to Dubai, but it is already well-established in more than a dozen other nations. Yango, the most recent update to luxury Dubai’s car service offering, offers features such as the ability to book several vehicles from a single phone and the capacity to identify alternate pick-up spots that will allow customers to get at their destination faster and at less money. Cars available are the same to those given by other ride-hailing applications, including the Lexus ES in the comfort class.

Uber
If you haven’t heard of Uber, you’ve either been living under a rock or taking your daily step count very seriously. The cab firm works in 10,000 cities in 71 states. You can select where you want to go, get an estimate of the cost before confirming pick-up, and schedule trips up to 30 days in future.

Pricing: Keep in mind that Uber has a flat fare, which makes it a more cost-effective alternatives for longer journeys.
XXRIDE
XXRIDE is one of the new taxi services to receive a licence to operate in Dubai, and it has received international recognition. You can use the company’s ridesharing and ride-hailing services, which are available in over 700 locations internationally.
