On Wednesday, Facebook parent company Meta revealed a slew of generative artificial intelligence tools at its Menlo Park office in California during its Connect conference.

Across sectors, generative AI is causing havoc. It is a sort of artificial intelligence system that is capable of creating text, pictures, or other media by using neural networks to discover patterns and structures in existing data in order to generate new and unique substance.

According to a recent McKinsey estimate, it may add up to $4.4 trillion to the global economy each year and will alter productivity across industries if ongoing investment occurs in the technology.

AI stickers are a new element in Meta’s chat and story platforms. This feature allows users to easily create customised stickers.

This AI application is capable of translating text suggestions into a varied assortment of stickers by leveraging Meta’s Llama 2 technology and the core picture development model, Emu.

According to the firm, this new tool will be introduced to select English-speaking users across WhatsApp, Messenger, Instagram, and Facebook Stories over the next month.

Revolutionising image editing with AI

Meta users will notice an important boost in picture editing capabilities in the coming weeks. Meta is planning to go live with two new Instagram features, Restyle and Backdrop.

These features make use of Emu technology’s abilities. Users may add multiple aesthetic styles to their pictures with the Restyle tool, giving their photographs fresh life.

Meet Meta AI: your personal assistant

Meta AI is a cutting-edge addition to the Meta ecosystem that is meant to take part with users in real-time in a human-like manner.

It’s already available on WhatsApp, Messenger, and Instagram, and it’ll be available shortly on Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses and Quest 3 headsets.

This AI assistant operates by a proprietary model that combines components from Llama 2 and Meta’s most recent improvements to big language models.

Through its relationship with Bing, Meta AI gets access to real-time information in text-based discussions, offering a useful tool for image generation. Meta AI is still in beta and is only available in the United States.

Join the conversation with 28 more AIs

Users may interact with 28 further AI entities on WhatsApp, Messenger, and Instagram in addition to Meta AI.

Meta has worked with cultural managers and influencers to bring these AIs to life, with each having its own Instagram and Facebook pages for buyers to explore.

Introducing AI Studio

AI Studio, a flexible platform which allows the construction of AI beings, has been developed by Meta.

The startup aims to make this platform available to those who are not Meta users, appealing to both developers and non-coders.

Developers will soon be able to create third-party AIs for Meta’s messaging services, beginning with Messenger and ultimately expanding to WhatsApp.

Enhancing businesses and creators

Small and large businesses will be able to design AIs that match with their brand values and improve their client experiences.

This feature is now in alpha (one of the testing phases) and will be extended in the following year.

Creators are going to be able to generate AIs that extend their virtual presence all through Meta’s mobile apps, as soon that they have been authorised and directly managed by the owners.

Glimpse of the future

Meta is also working on a sandbox, which will be available in the coming months and will allow anyone to experiment with constructing their own AI.

Meta stated that it has set up crucial security measures in its new generative AI capabilities to protect people’s data and help them understand how the features function.

“Our generative AI features go through a rigorous corporate privacy review that helps ensure we are using people’s data ethically, while building better experiences for connection and expression.”

The business releases a generative AI privacy guide along with other transparency materials to help customers understand how Meta creates its AI theories, as well as what controls and data privacy rights they have.

According to Mark Zuckerberg, Meta’s designer and CEO, new AI experiences bring with them new obstacles.
