When is the next UAE public holiday in 2023?

We’re officially reaching the end of the year, and if you’re thinking about a trip out of the country or just spending time with loved ones, knowing when the next coming UAE public holiday in 2023 will be useful.

We had lots of public holidays this year, including one for New Year’s Day on January 1, after a (long) wait for Eid Al Fitr, which arose on Thursday, April 20 to 23. Following this, we had Eid Al Adha, which was observed from Tuesday, June 27 to 30, and we also celebrated Islamic New Year on Friday, July 21. The next festival was Al-Mawlid Al-Nabawi (the birthday of Prophet Muhammad [PBUH]) on Friday, the 29th of September.

But this is not the final public holiday in the UAE; we have other long weekend coming up in a month.

Here’s when the next public holiday in the UAE will occur.

Commemoration Day and UAE National Day 2023

Commemoration Day (also referred to as Martyrs’ Day) is observed annually on the first of December in 2023, which falls on a Friday.

Following this, the UAE celebrates National Day on December 2 and 3, which are Saturday and Sunday. It means that the final long weekend of the year will be a three-day weekend. The UAE does celebrate at this time of year, but we will have to wait for the official announcement.

2024

The next public holiday will be in 2024, but we won’t have to wait long because the New Year will start with a public holiday on January 1. It falls on a Monday, which means we’ll have another three-day weekend.

The list of public holidays in the UAE is normally issued far in advance (subject to confirmation closer to the time), and we will certainly keep an eye out for the announcement. One major long weekend in the UAE in 2024 is the expected nine-day Eid-Al-Fitr vacation. Again, this is subject to approval, but it is something to look forward to.
